Consolidation of Old Mineworkings and Mine Entries

DCE have a deserved reputation for a high quality ground consolidation service. Our specialist areas include consolidation of abandoned mine workings for coal, ironstone, limestone, sandstone, fireclay and oil shales, together with mineshaft location and stabilisation and the construction of reinforced shaft caps.

With extensive knowledge of coal seams and shallow workings throughout the major UK coal fields DCE are able, in conjunction with specialist geotechnical mining engineers, to offer reliable and cost effective advice and solutions for most developments.

Ground Source (Geothermal) Drilling

As part of the company’s ongoing developments Ground Source Drilling and Contracting (GDC) was established in 2008

GDC are involved in drilling for the installation of geoloops (heat exchangers) for ground source heat pumps; both open and closed loop applications. Drilling depths are typically 100 metres, subject to the heating and cooling profiles required in buildings. Services also include the installation and grouting of the geoloops, together with the earthworks and trenching required to link header pipes, manifolds and chambers to the plant room. Flushing pressure testing and the introduction of glycol or equivalent also form part of the services provided by GDC.

The installation of ground and rock anchors, soil nails geofabrics and mesh are increasingly important geotechnical procedures. DCE have the resources and experience in conjunction with geotechnical design engineers to provide this range of geotechnical service.

Drilling for the Installation of Passive and Active Gas Venting Systems

In recognising both statutory environmental requirements, and the aspiration of our clients, DCE have successfully completed contracts involving the investigation and monitoring, together with the construction and installation of passive and active gas venting systems.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the waterwell industry DCE are able to provide a waterwell drilling and development service for most small to medium sizewaterwell projects.

Pre-Drilling for Foundation Piling

DCE have been employed throughout the UK by some of the most prominent foundation piling contractors to pre-drill open holes in made ground and superficial materials to identify obstructions prior to the installation of driven and continuous flight angered piles.

Site Investigation

DCE’s comprehensive range of rotary and rotary percussive drilling equipment and consumables permits DCE to offer an informative and effective open hole site investigation service which also includes the deployment of simultaneous drilling and casing systems to overcome challenging drilling conditions.

Open holes are consistently used for the installation of water and gas monitoring equipment to assist clients and developers in recognising the design requirements for future developments.
